There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

To ensure this, it is necessary for students to have a strong grasp of computer basics and to meet the appropriate proficiency levels in reading, writing, oral communication, and numeracy as outlined in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) for their chosen course. Course structure & fees

In this Nationally Recognised course you will complete 12 modules that consist of 15 units of competency (nine core and six elective units).

Learn how to protect the privacy and confidentiality of patients, maintain patient records within an existing medical records management system and to prepare and process medical accounts for a range of patients. Unit(s):

Medical Reception Module – Clustered unit consisting of:
• BSBMED302 Prepare and process medical accounts
• BSBMED303 Maintain patient records
• BSBMED305 Apply the principles of confidentiality, privacy and security within the
medical environment

*Include access to and use of the specialised medical software package Clinic to Cloud as well as tutorials in Best Practice and Pracsoft.

Communication is at the heart of how we interact with one another and our patients. Senior health administration staff are required to use medical terminology in the context of their job role and to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, management and other industry providers Unit(s):

  • HLTCCD003 Use medical terminology in health care
  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services

These units provide the skills required to implement work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures in the workplace, apply basic infection prevention and control principles including implementing standard and transmission-based precautions, integrate these procedures into work practices, monitor and manage risks . Units (s)

  • Infection Control Cluster
    • HLTINF007 Implement and monitor infection prevention and control standards, policies and procedures
    • HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control

Teams must work within relevant legislation, codes, national standards and work health and safety (WHS) rules. Senior administrators evaluate and enhance their own practice as well as promote cohesion, motivate, mentor, coach and develop their team. Unit(s):

These units provide the skills required to provide instructions and information to patients, liaise with service provider, work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and handle difficult incidents and situations. Unit(s):

  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • CHCCCS020 Respond effectively to behaviours of concern

At MAT, you don’t need to worry about a once-off pass or fail result. Our assessment methodology is competency-based, meaning we evaluate your abilities through various activities. During this course, trainers may use any or all of the following: 

  • Question-based assessment with written responses. 
  • Product-based assessment – e.g. creating and presenting mock reports, policies or procedures.
  • Direct observation assessment – demonstrating your practical skills by engaging in simulated role play or workplace tasks.

Medical Administration Training (MAT) understands the importance of practical experience, so role-playing makes up some of the practical elements of your assessments. MAT believes that you can benefit from undertaking role-playing activities throughout your studies. Not only are they fun and interactive, it gives you the opportunity to collaborate with other participants such as your family, friends or colleagues.

We provide up to three attempts for each assessment to ensure your success. Our reliable trainers offer clear, written feedback to help you comprehend and improve your competencies.

Students are given a generous timeframe of up to 24 months. However, if you prefer a more self-paced option, we allow students to complete the course sooner if they wish. So, no matter your learning style, our flexible learning environment and guidance will ensure you achieve your goals.

As a distance-based online course, you can access fully accredited course material from anywhere at any time. Students can participate from their desktop computer or laptop; or some coursework may also be completed using a mobile device.

For a smooth online learning experience, you will need the following: 

  • A reliable internet connection
  • An up-to-date browser such as Chrome or Firefox
  • Access to Microsoft Office
  • Desktop or laptop should have audio and camera or a webcam

You can apply for RPL and Credit Transfers at the time of enrolment or during the course. Please refer to our student handbook for further information.

Total Course Costs: $2850

Just like our study set up, our payment options are also flexible. You can pay your course fees up-front or in instalments. If you pay via instalments, an upfront payment of $50 is required at time of enrolment*, followed by 50 weekly payments of $57. Further payment plan information can be found here.
