Written permission from a parent/ guardian is required for individuals under the age of 18 years of age.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however to complete this course you will need:

A computer with a built-in microphone (common on most modern desktops and laptops), internet access, and an up-to-date browser.

Access to a word processing program e.g. Microsoft Word

Basic computer skills, including internet navigation, word processing, and file uploading/downloading.

Intermediate writing and communication skills (Year 10 level or higher).


Course structure & fees

The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete the core unit from the list below.

 

  • BSBMED301 Interpret and Apply Medical Terminology Appropriately

MAT’s course assessment is competency-based, which means you need not worry about a pass or fail outcome. Our trainers will use various methods to assess your medical reception and terminology capabilities, to successfully complete this course, you are required to:

  • Answer written questions to assess your understanding of the course content.
  • Write basic communications using appropriate medical terminology.
  • Simulate simple conversations using medical terminology, interacting with patients, co-workers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Submit short oral recordings to demonstrate correct pronunciation of common medical terms. Our user-friendly Learning Management System (LMS) makes this quick and simple if your computer has a microphone.

MAT gives every student up to three attempts for each assessment to promote plenty of opportunities for success. Our devoted trainers are fully committed to guiding you throughout your learning journey, offering comprehensive written feedback to enhance your understanding and improve your skills.

To complete their course, students are allocated up to 8 weeks (part-time) however, as this is a self-paced course, you can finish it in much less time. The workload for this course under the part-time load is approximately 5 hours per week.

As an online study program, our flexible platform allows you to access fully accredited course material from any location anytime. You can conveniently participate in and complete coursework using a desktop computer or laptop. To complete this course, you will need:

  • A computer with a built-in microphone (common on most modern desktops and laptops), internet access, and an up-to-date browser.
  • Access to a word processing program e.g. Microsoft Word
  • Basic computer skills, including internet navigation, word processing, and file uploading/downloading.
