Success and Wellbeing Services Available

Success and Wellbeing Services (SWS)

Available to eligible South Australian funded students only

Are you:

  • Feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed by your studies or personal life?
  • Struggling to keep up with your coursework or attendance?
  • Looking for someone who can provide support and help you navigate these challenges?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, Success and Wellbeing Services (SWS) may be able to help.

What is SWS?

Success and Wellbeing Services (SWS) offers free tailored, one-on-one support to students who are finding it challenging to stay on track with their training or studies. You can contact an SWS qualified coach directly, or your training provider can refer you.

How can SWS help?

The goal of SWS is to support you to stay in training, complete your studies, and prepare for the next step in your journey. This includes:

  • Tackling life issues that may be preventing you from training or studying.
  • Developing your study skills.
  • Connecting you with support services in your community.
  • Helping you understand course expectations and requirements.
  • Supporting your transition to further study or work after completing your course.

With SWS, you will work with a qualified coach in one-on-one sessions. They can also refer you to and coordinate with other service providers to ensure you get the help you need. If necessary, SWS can provide outreach support at a location convenient for you.

What services are available through SWS?

Success and Wellbeing Services are personalised to meet your unique needs and may include:

  • Study skills support
  • Talking to your trainers about disability adjustments you might need
  • Helping to manage financial stress and connections to services
  • Support with accessing domestic violence services
  • Help to find accommodation
  • Accessing carer supports
  • Connections to mental health services and support throughout the journey
  • Supporting you to manage a tricky family relationship
  • Support to work out transport issues
  • A listening ear and an opportunity to regularly touch base
  • Planning what’s next and support to prepare for job hunting
  • And much more

What doesn’t SWS provide?

While SWS can help you develop your study skills, it does not provide direct Literacy and Numeracy (L&N) training.

Your training provider is responsible for assessing any gaps in your L&N skills and arranging free support, if eligible, via the Foundation Skills Program if needed.

Who can access SWS?

You are eligible for Success and Wellbeing Services if you are:

  • An eligible South Australian funded student, and
  • Enrolled in a subsidised VET course, and
  • Experiencing challenges that make it hard to keep studying or stay on track.

What happens after you leave training?

You can continue to receive support from SWS for up to 12 weeks after leaving your course. This can help you transition to your next course or into work. Even if you leave your course early due to employment or other circumstances.

  • Work with your coach to create a support plan tailored to your needs.
  • Agree to and sign your consent for sharing information with relevant support providers.
